The PSC Magellan 8500 maximizes productivity by using SurroundScan 3D Scanning technology. SurroundScan utilizes the Magellan 8500's scan pattern to aggressively read all six sides of an item with allowing superior reading of truncated or high density codes (like RSS). This technologiy eliminates misreads and reduces re-scans. It also allows the operator to scan items using their natural orientation.
The PSC Magellan 8500 is equipped with FirstStrike scanning software which enables the scanner to read damaged, poorly printed, distorted and wrinkled labels. With FirstStrike, the Magellan 8500 can stitch together the entire code from any of its scan lines in a fraction of a second. It improves first pass read rates on even tough items like irregular cartons.
The All-Weighs platter of the Magellan 8500 reduces shrinkage loss from the underweighing of large product. It is more intuitive for the operator, and allows product to be leaned against the vertical scanner surfaces for the most accurate of weighing conditions. In this manner, the product is kept away from the counter surface.
The Magellan 8500 has the latest technology in EAS tag technology. It uses a Scan Max ProIS antenna, which is integrated below the scale platter. This placment provided one-step scanning and deactivation, minimizing FTD events at the Point-of-Sale station. The Magellan 8500 has a series of front-mounted controls and indicators, showing the status of the EAS / scanning process.
