Intelligent VersaMag readers can read and decode up to three tracks of magnetic data. By attaching an undecoded laser, CCD scanner, wand, or slot reader to the optional port, the same units can also decode barcodes. VersaMag reads credit cards and driver's licenses (AAMVA and California DMV) without preconditioning. Data can be edited through the keyboard, or with barcode menus.

Reads magnetic stripes. The VersaMag reads and decodes up to three tracks of information with a single swipe in either direction. Keyboard and RS-232 interfaces are available. An adjustable beeper and multi-color LED indicator signal a successful read. Edits and formats data. The VersaMag can be programmed to divide, rearrange, edit, and validate fields of scanned data. In addition, it allows for up to 16 preamble or postamble characters. Windows-based configuration software is included for easy, on-screen programming of "magnetics-only" models with serial interface. Supports barcode scanning. By attaching an undecoded laser, CCD, wand, or slot scanner to a VersaMag with the optional barcode capability, the same unit can decode scanned barcode data, as well as read and decode magnetic stripe media. Performs quickly and reliably. With its combination of magnetic stripe and barcode decoding capabilities, the VersaMag is especially suited for the high- performance demands of point-of-sale environments. Its stainless steel wearplate and spring-loaded magnetic head insure optimum contact and exceptional dependability.
