History

National Barcode started as a traditional Systems Integrator / Value Added Reseller (VAR) in the Philadelphia area in the mid 90's. Working predominantly with Fortune 500 companies we continue to providel state of the art data collection systems for use in warehouses, manufacturing plants, telecommunications and other fields.

Early in 2000, we started to hear from our existing customers that they could buy the products we were selling directly from the web, for discounted prices. We began to realize that the power of the Internet would drastically change the way our market segment conducted business. The vision of the National Barcode was to supply customers with hardware at discounted prices. This was a fundamental departure from our integration business, where clients get installation and technical support after the sale - a service that represents a "value" reflected in the selling price. We realized that National Barcode would serve a market niche...supplying those customers willing to forgo the detailed support option in return for discount pricing.

National Barcode initially operated as a DBA for our integration company, but sales grew so fast that it was incorporated as its own entity in 2002. What sets us apart from the other equipment vendors on the web can be summed up in 2 comments:

  1. There is someone there when you dial the phone
  2. We work as a traditional VAR / integrator, so we have the expertise to get you the help you need

Our main warehouse is in Cincinnati, Ohio, with smaller warehouses in Charlotte, North Carolina and Dallas, Texas. As we continue to expand, we plan on adding warehouses on the West Coast to supply our customers and future customers there.

We believe that the succcess of any company is closely tied to how it treats its customers and employees, and it has always been our goal to "do the right thing" when it comes to how we treat other people. Although this philosophy sometimes seem incompatable with today's business environment, our business continues to grow, and customers keep re-ordering.
